What happened
How the app stopped reaching its robots
Neato Robotics, founded in 2005 by Stanford alumni according to PCMag, became part of the German manufacturer Vorwerk in 2017 and shut down in 20233. Owners were told at the time that the cloud behind MyNeato would keep running for five more years.
That promise ended early. Heise reports that on 6 October 2025 the company announced the cloud’s immediate closure, around three years ahead of schedule, ending app control, app schedules and mapping functions1.
The email to owners, as The Verge reported, pointed to tighter cybersecurity standards, compliance duties and regulation. A petition followed, asking for the cloud to return or for an open alternative12.
